Gates for Bitbucket teams

Most delivery tools were built around GitHub. Prodgator checks Bitbucket Cloud pull requests against your policies and can hold a deployment step until someone approves it.

  • Swarmia

    Lists GitHub and GitLab as its git providers. Bitbucket is not on the list.

  • Datadog

    Documents PR Gates as pull request checks on GitHub and Azure DevOps. CI Pipeline Visibility lists GitHub Actions, GitLab, Azure Pipelines and Jenkins among its providers, and not Bitbucket Pipelines.

  • LinearB

    Lists Bitbucket as a supported git provider. Lists its Essentials plan for GitHub Cloud only. Insights and DORA sit on its Enterprise plan. Its CI integrations are CircleCI and Jenkins.

  • DX (Atlassian)

    Atlassian sells DX with Bitbucket and Pipelines in its Software Collection. DX reads Bitbucket data and measures delivery. On its public pages we found no pull request checks or deployment gates.

What Prodgator does on Bitbucket

  • Pull request gates. Prodgator posts a build status named Prodgator policies on the pull request's latest commit. With Bitbucket Premium, turn on "Prevent a merge with unresolved merge checks" and Bitbucket refuses the merge until the status passes. On Bitbucket Standard that setting is not available, so the status is a warning. Set up pull request gates.
  • Deployment approvals. A deployment step runs the Prodgator pipe first and waits. Someone approves or rejects the deployment in Prodgator, and the step reads the decision. Approve deployments.
  • Bitbucket Pipelines runs in the same list as your other providers, with run reports sent from your pipelines. Connect Bitbucket.

What Prodgator does not do on Bitbucket yet

  • Rollback from Prodgator. Bitbucket has no API to run a deployment step again, so use Redeploy in Bitbucket.
  • Code owners rules and policy files kept in the repository.
  • Pull request metrics in SPACE, because Bitbucket pull request events are not collected yet.
